What is Presbyopia?

Presbyopia is an age-related vision condition that causes near objects to appear blurry. It typically starts in a person’s 40’s, when the lens of the eye begins to stiffen and lose flexibility. This makes it difficult to focus on nearby objects.

Presbyopia can significantly impact your quality of life. Regular daily activities like reading books, instruction manuals and food labels, scrolling through your phone, threading a needle and other close-up tasks can become daunting.

The good news is, with the help of Omni Vision - Dove Creek, this common vision condition can be effectively managed, so you won’t have to compromise on your quality of life.

The front desk ladies are awesome, and send multiple reminders about your appointment and are very c... ordial. The tech did a great job of explaining all the machines before he did anything, and kept things moving. I saw Dr. Peters today and he was really nice and patient, and took the time to explain all the images they took. But heres the biggest thing....they actually had my contacts in stock which is HUGE for me because optometrists NEVER have mine in stock for samples! Enjoying my new eyes and will definitely be back!

Had a very pleasant experience today at Omni-Dove Creek. After a melt down the day before due to my... mistake for making an appointment at the wrong location it all turned out well. The staff was so kind and were able to get me in today. The gentleman tech who did the preliminary testing was so kind and extremely professional. Dr. Peters was also very kind. If I had to say anything less than a 5 star rating it would be I waited a while for Dr. Peters. You can not always blame that on the doctor. Each patient is different and may require additional time that was unexpected. The young lady who finished up my visit with frames and such was top notch. Overall a wonderful bunch of people. Good job everyone !

I had a great experience at Omni Vision with my son. It was his first appointment to receive glasses... and the staff made it stress free. Everyone was friendly and there was a large selection of frames at reasonable prices for us to choose from. The store is large and clean which I also appreciated. I will definitely be taking my son here for glasses and contacts in the future.

This was my second year in a row coming to this location and I was very pleased both times. Dr. Pet... ers was very kind and patient. Dorothy assisted me in placing my order for new glasses and lenses and she was absolutely amazing. She explained everything in detail to me and was super nice. Jason was also very kind when doing my tests and getting me checked in and situated for the doctor. I will definitely be going back next year and I highly recommend this location!

Presbyopia Diagnosis Treatment FAQs

What is presbyopia treatment?

Presbyopia treatment corrects age-related farsightedness to enable you to see close-up objects, such as books and electronic screens more clearly. Treatments include:

  • Eyeglasses
  • Contact lenses
  • Laser surgery
  • Lens implants
Can presbyopia be cured?

Currently, there is no cure. The good news is that our optometrists can recommend a variety of treatment options to help you see your best, from near to far.

How do I know if I have presbyopia?

If you’re over 40 and struggle with any of the following, you may have presbyopia.

  • Holding a book or a screen at arm’s length to see it more clearly
  • Needing larger print or font size to read
  • Blurry vision while reading
  • Difficulty reading in dim light
  • Eye strain and headaches when focusing on near objects

If you have one or more of these signs, schedule an eye exam and ask us about glasses, contact lenses, or other presbyopia treatment options.

Are bifocals right for me?

If it’s hard for you to read and to see things at a distance, bifocals may be your perfect solution. With bifocals, you can get two prescriptions in one. One corrects farsightedness and the other corrects nearsightedness. We offer several different types of bifocal lenses to suit your personal preference.
